How do piano classes work at Kingʻs Music Academy?

Our group piano classes are designed for small groups of up to 6 students and rotate between two dedicated rooms.

In the first half of class, students work independently at their own level using our Piano Express app, which provides live feedback on rhythm, hand position, and technique, with a teaching assistant available to help and answer questions.

In the second half, our main teacher leads a Discovery lesson featuring live demonstrations, group activities, and games, where students play side-by-side, learn together, and work toward performing full songs as a group.

Students also have the opportunity to showcase their progress in approximately four recitals each year, making for a balanced, fun, and supportive learning experience that builds both skills and confidence.

What styles of piano do you teach?

We teach all styles, from rock, pop and jazz to country, blues and classical.

How qualified are King's Music Academy piano instructors?

Our piano instructors have received musical training from respected institutions, including the Musicians Institute - College of Contemporary Music. Many bring years of professional performance and teaching experience to their lessons! Our instructors are warm, friendly, and take the time to get to know each student and parent personally, creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment.

What will I learn exactly?

Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are dedicated to helping you become the pianist you want to be. They will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory,
and incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons.

Do I have to know how to read music?

‍No. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners!

Do I need a piano to learn the instrument?

No, you do not need a piano at home to take lessons. A 61-key keyboard is great to learn the basics, later on an 88-key (full-sized) keyboard would become necessary.
